Download the latest version of Navicat Monitor

Navicat Monitor is a secure, simple and agentless remote server monitoring tool. It has a powerful function to maximize the effectiveness of your monitoring. The monitored servers include MySQL, MariaDB and Percona Server, and are compatible with cloud databases such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Aliyun. Navicat Monitor is a server-based software that can be accessed from anywhere using a web browser. Through network access, you can easily and seamlessly grasp the status of global servers around the clock.

The startup screen for Navicat Monitor for MySQL/MariaDB is Overview Dashboard. It is an one-stop real-time analysis store for analyzing the health and performance of all instances. Thanks to the introduction of CompactView in version 1.7, you can now monitor hundreds of instances at a glance! In this article, you will show how to build a custom dashboard for your server metrics to get a global view of each instance, as well as application instance grouping.

One Screen, Two Views

Overview Dashboard can display instance information in one of two ways: Comfort View and the new Compact View introduced in version 1.7. Comfort View uses instance cards to identify server status and system resource usage, which in turn provides a more concise set of data cards for each instance. The following is a comparison of each method:

Comfort View

Compact View

Evaluate server status

Compact View displays the name of the instance, as well as the number of critical and warning issues. For more information, select Comfort View. Each card in Comfort View displays a bright green, orange, red, or gray status bar, showing the status of the instance at a glance. These colors correspond to health, warning, severity, and pause. This allows you to easily identify instances that require immediate attention. You can click the status bar to view a list of all warnings and / or alerts for this instance.

Customized card index

By default, the instance card displays all available system resource usage. Click the "X / Y Shown" tab to uncheck the metrics that you are not interested in. You can also change the display style that best suits you by selecting "Compact View" or "Comfortable View":

Get more information about Metric

Hovering the mouse pointer over the indicator in the card will pop up a small chart:

In addition, hover the mouse pointer over the chart to display the time and value at that point in time.

You can click anywhere on the instance to view its details and metrics:

Change the order of instances

Simply click "SORT BY" and select the sort option. If you select Alert Severity, the instance cards are sorted from severe to lowest severity. Select "Custom" to locate the instance as needed. To do this, click and hold the connection icon on the instance card, and then drag and drop it to the desired location. Navicat Monitor will automatically remember your custom selections.

Filter instance

There are several ways to filter instances. One way is to click the availability group name label above the instance:

You can also filter instances by their health. At the top of the screen, there are four labeled colored check boxes showing the total number of servers with critical alerts (red), warnings (orange), health (green), and pausing or stopping monitoring (gray). Depending on its status, click the check box to add or remove instances according to the status in the selected group.
