Soft and hard enter

Hard enter is produced by ordinary people pressing enter, and it also plays the role of paragraph separation while changing lines.

Soft carriage returns are generated with SHIFT + ENTER, which wraps lines, but does not change paragraphs, that is, the two paragraphs belong to the same "paragraph" in WORD. You will realize this when you apply the format.

Switch: edit-replace, click Advanced, click the manual newline character in "find what", then click the paragraph mark in "Special character" in "replace with", and finally click replace all.

Our common enter is the hard enter, which is the small curved arrow generated by tapping the enter key in WORD, accounting for two bytes.

This kind of carriage return can effectively mark the paragraphs clearly. The text between two hard returns forms a paragraph of its own, and you can mark it separately without worrying about other paragraphs being affected. This is also the reason why we are used to hard enter: typesetting is convenient.

But hard return also brings trouble to you. If you are a web designer or a forum ranger, you must have this experience: when you plan to change lines, the line is really not flattering, the line spacing is too large!

In fact, this is the same principle as hard enter, except that it does not show its "true face" in text editors such as WORD. However, this kind of typesetting does cause a lot of difficulties, and then we have to invite the hard enter brother: soft enter.

Soft carriage returns take up only one byte, which is a down arrow in WORD. If you have copied text from a very complex web page to WORD, you will be familiar with it. But it's not that easy to type soft carriage returns directly into WORD.

Because soft carriage return is not a real paragraph mark, it is just another line, not a segment. So it is not very good for text typesetting because it cannot be given a special format as a separate paragraph. But in spite of this, it still plays an important role in web design.
