When installing 11gRAC, we often create users followed by a large number of parameters. We will not explain fsize and other parameters in detail. Explain the capabilities parameters and the corresponding values here:

Capabilities: ability

Define the system privileges (capabilities) granted to the user through the login or su command.

The valid capabilities (capability) is:

CAP_AACCT

The Advanced Accounting operation that has been performed.

CAP_ARM_APPLICATION

The process has the ability to use the ARM (Application response Measurement) service.

CAP_BYPASS_RAC_VMM

Processes have the ability to bypass restrictions on the use of VMM resources.

CAP_EWLM_AGENT

Processes can use EWLM (Enterprise Workload Manager?) AIX? System service. This capability is usually granted only to the user identity of the managed Server component that runs the EWLM product.

CAP_NUMA_ATTACH

Processes have the ability to bind to specific resources.

CAP_PROPAGATE

Child processes inherit all capabilities.

This value is a list of zero or more competency names separated by commas.

If the above parameters are not set, an error will be reported when executing root.sh:

Creating trace directory

User oracle is missing the following capabilities required to run CSSD in realtime:

CAP_NUMA_ATTACH,CAP_BYPASS_RAC_VMM,CAP_PROPAGATE

To add the required capabilities, please run:

/ usr/bin/chuser capabilities=CAP_NUMA_ATTACH,CAP_BYPASS_RAC_VMM,CAP_PROPAGATE oracle

CSS cannot be run in realtime mode at / grid/crs/install/crsconfig_lib.pm line 8119.

You can use the lsuser command to check whether the parameters are valid after setting the parameters:

# lsuser-a capabilities grid

Grid capabilities=CAP_NUMA_ATTACH,CAP_BYPASS_RAC_VMM,CAP_PROPAGATE
