Sony enters the controller customized game later in the PS4 life cycle. The company has launched a double shock 4 back button accessory, which, as the name implies, allows you to map the two buttons of the game console to a more accessible position on the back. If you don't want to release your fingers, reload or make a special attack, you don't have to do this. You can specify up to three different profiles, and the OLED screen on the back will display your current button settings.

Sony says the accessory can be used with "all your favorite" PS4 and PlayStation VR games. There is also a headphone channel that can help you talk to your teammates.

This will not be the last minute holiday gift. Sony will sell pull button accessories to North America for $30 (C $40) on January 23, and Europe will not see them for 30 euros until February 14. The price is low enough. If you are a competitive product, it may be worth it. You'd rather not replace the entire controller (or use an unofficial solution) just to speed up input. Having said that, the timing is not very good. It's no secret that the PlayStation 5 is less than a year away, and it's not clear whether future system controllers will support this accessory. If you plan to use the back button accessory for a long time, you only want Sony to consider the next generation of controllers in its design.
