Some time ago, the test passed MDT2013, upgraded the Win7 client to Win10, and upgraded office2010 to office2016 plus, keeping the original user's profile. I didn't have time to write an article before, but today is just Saturday. I will record the process now and read it later.

Demand:

Upgrade win7 SP1 Ent (Pro) to win10 Ent (Pro) through MDT2013 implementation, and upgrade office2010 in the original client to office2016 plus version, requiring that user profiles and other applications (outlook, etc.) are not affected by the upgrade.

Environment introduction:

1. MDT version: MDT8450,ADK1803

2. Client version: WIN7 SP1 Enterprise Edition / Professional Edition

3. Win10 version: Win10 1803 Enterprise Edition / Professional Edition

4. Office version: Office2016 ProPlus

The implementation steps are as follows (backup of user data in advance before upgrade):

I. Server-side configuration

1. MDT,ADK installation

Prepare a windows server 2012R2 server, rename it mdt and add a domain. Install WDS (windows deployment Services), download and install the latest version of MDT and ADK (MDT8450,ADK1803)

2. Create a new deploymentshare share

In the MDT Management console, create a new deploymentshare share.

Import the win10 operating system iso as required (upgrading win7 to win10 requires the standard windows10 ISO,import downloaded from windows Volume Licensing Center to be of the type Full set of source files).

3. Create a new upgrade win10 sequence

Select the standard windows upgrade sequence, as shown below:

4. Import office2016 application

Set and view imported office2016 application properties

Set the office2016 silent installation command

Configure Custom tool

Choose to delete the previous version (after the system upgrade is complete, the office2010 in the original win7 system will be deleted)

Customize the features that need to be installed

Save the custom settings, be sure to save them to the updates folder, and in order for the installer to first identify them in a pile of files in the UPDATES folder (which may also contain patches, etc.), it is recommended that the first character of the file name of the custom installation parameters be "0".

You can create two task sequences, one for win10 Enterprise Edition and one for win10 Professional Edition.

5. Rules and Bootstrap settings

Set the rules and bootstrap files for deployment, and MDT logs may not be recorded.

At this point, the server-side configuration is complete.

II. The client performs the upgrade

1. Check the original win7 client system version

You can see that the version of the client operating system that needs to be upgraded is win7 Enterprise Edition, and the domain has been added.

2. Access the MDT server shared folder

Run-enter:\\ mdt.desit.cn\ deploymentshare$\ Scripts to access the MDT server shared folder, locate and run the LiteTouch.vbs script file, and enter the administrator account password to execute the script.

Replace mdt.desit.cn with the FQDN or IP address of the real MDT server.

3. Select the task sequence

Correction:

Windows 7 Ultimate (Ultimate Edition) support upgrade to windows 10 Professional and Enterprise Edition

Windows 7 Professional Edition supports upgrade to windows 10 Professional and Enterprise Edition

Windows7 Enterprise Edition can be upgraded to windows 10 Enterprise Edition, and upgrade from windows7 Enterprise Edition to windows 10 Professional Edition is not supported.

Win7 Home Edition upgrade is not supported, and it is impossible to upgrade 32-bit win7 to 64-bit win10,Win7. If the SP1 patch is missing, you need to fix the SP1 patch in advance.

If the client version is win7 Enterprise Edition and chooses to upgrade to win10 Professional Edition, the following error occurs:

4. Perform system upgrade

Because the win7 client is Enterprise Edition, select the Enterprise Edition upgrade sequence-Upgrade Win10_1803_Ent

5. View the upgrade results

In general, the upgrade process takes about 1-2 hours to perform.

6. Check the status of the upgraded client system

As you can see, the current operating system has been upgraded to win10 Enterprise Edition, and the state of the added domain remains the same.

The original win7 operating system files are retained on disk C windows.old.

Check that the office version was upgraded successfully.

View currently logged-in users

Note: there is no option to revert to the previous version after the upgrade, that is, there is no option to fall back to win7 after upgrading the system.

7. Outlook side check

In win10 operating system, in Exchange MAPI mode, the following error may occur in the outlook connection:

Client network configuration if the real gateway address is not filled in, then outlook2016 connects to the exchange server through exchange mode, and an error will occur.

No error was reported in the POP3/OWA connection, and the email was sent and received normally.

After adding a real gateway address, the connection is normal.

In general, win7 is upgraded to the win10 operating system, and most of the windows drivers are integrated into the operating system by default, and some drivers can be installed manually or imported through MDT according to the model.

In addition, the upgrade sequence cannot be seen in PXE mode, that is, the win7 operating system cannot be upgraded by PXE mode.

The above methods mainly rely on the network to achieve win7 system upgrade, and the efficiency of batch operating system upgrade is affected by bandwidth. Can be installed by media such as U disk, need to make media media through MDT, and copy media to U disk. However, instead of installing the flash drive when the client boots (because the upgrade sequence is not visible), open and run LiteTouch.vbs in the Scripts folder of the USB disk to perform the system upgrade.
