Use syslog to log Cisco devices

The following configuration describes how to send logs from a Cisco device to a syslog server

Device#conf t

Device (config) # logging on

Device (config) # logging a.b.c.d / / IP address of the log server

Device (config) # logging facility local1

/ / facility logo. The local device ID specified by RFC3164 is local0-local7.

Device (config) # logging trap errors / / logging level, available "?" View details

Device (config) # logging source-interface E0 / / Source IP address to send out the log

Device (config) # service timestamps log datetime localtime
