In October, Yahoo announced that it would delete all content released by Yahoo Group on December 14. However, the company said today that it would extend the deadline by a few more weeks to give users more time to download data.

As Yahoo! Twitter says you still can't view content on Yahoo Group after December 14. Yahoo stopped allowing users to upload content on Oct. 28, so the Yahoo Group became very limited.

After Yahoo deletes the data, a large part of the Internet history will disappear forever. Some archivists say they have been using "semi-automatic scripts" to join the organization, trying to archive data before deleting all content, but Verizon Media (owns Yahoo!) 128 archivists were apparently banned, saying that their actions violated the terms of service and seriously hindered their filing work.

A Yahoo spokesman told The Verge that the company would also extend the deadline for transforming a public organization into a restricted organization until January 31. This means that if you want to join the group after that date, you must request an invitation or be invited by the group administrator.

Although there is an extension, today's announcement does not change a fact. Soon, the only thing you can do for Yahoo is to send emails to your group members. Sadly, one day Yahoo may shut down Groups forever.
