Kali Linux search package

In Kali Linux, many penetration testing tools are installed by default. However, there are a few tools that have not been installed. At this point, if you want to use its tools, you need to install it manually. Typically, the package name is the same as the tool name, and you can install it directly using the apt-get command. However, some package names and tool names are different, for example, the package corresponding to the arpspoof tool is dsniff. If you do not know the package in which the tool is located, you can use the apt-file search command to search. The apt-file command is not installed by default. For example, search for the package in which the arpspoof tool is located. As follows:

(1) install apt-file tools. Execute the command as follows:

C:\ root > apt-get install apt-file

(2) update the software source. To use the apt-file tool for the first time, you need to update the software source first. Otherwise, the cache cannot be found. Execute the command as follows:

C:\ root > apt-get update

(3) search the software package where arpspoof is located. Execute the command as follows:

C:\ root > apt-file search arpspoof

Bash-completion: / usr/ share/bash-completion/completions/arpspoof

Dsniff: / usr/sbin/arpspoof

Dsniff: / usr/ share/man/man8/arpspoof.8.gz

Libtins-dev: / usr/ share/doc/ libtins-dev/examples/arpspoofing.cpp.gz

From the output above, you can see the package where the arpspoof command is located. On Linux systems, system commands are saved by default in the / usr/bin or / usr/sbin directory. So, according to the results displayed, you can see that the package in which the arpspoof command is located is dsniff.
