2. Win + R key to run "c:/boot.ini" and enter. My boot.ini file is as follows:

Multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1)\ WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" / noexecute=optin / fastdetect

Add a line at the end of the CentOS image file as follows, save and exit.

C:\ GRLDR= "Install CentOS Linux"

3. Download grub4dos, decompress it, and put the grldr,grldr.mbr and menu.lst in the root directory of C disk. (I downloaded grub4dos-0.4.4-2009-01-11.zip)

4. Win + R key to run "c:/menu.lst". (some may be c:/grub/menu.lst), add the following at the end of the file: (my CentOS image is on disk D, that is, / dev/hda5)

Title Install CentOS Linux

Root (hd0,1)

Kernel / isolinux/vmlinuz ro root=/dev/hda5

Initrd / isolinux/initrd.img

[NOTE] if the image file is placed on the E disk, the second and third lines above should be modified accordingly.

5. Restart the computer, select the menu and start the installation. Select "Hard Drive" and "/ dev/hda5" before installing the CentOS image.
