This article mainly explains the "Win8.1+CentOS7 dual-system U disk installation method", the article explains the content is simple and clear, easy to learn and understand, the following please follow the editor's ideas slowly in-depth, together to study and learn "Win8.1+CentOS7 dual-system U disk installation method"!

0. Preparatory work

1. Acer aspire 4752g notebook

2. Win8.1 Enterprise Edition operating system

3. U disk over 8g

4. Ultraiso (of course, you can also choose other u-disk production tools, depending on your personal preference)

5. Download the image of centos 7 (I have centos-7.0-1406-x86_64-dvd.iso as an example) the official website: (as for the difference between the various mirrors, Baidu, just dvd for ordinary users. )

6. Free hard disk partition, which is used to install centos 7 (divide idle partition yourself)

1. U disk production

1.1.Open the downloaded image with ultraiso

File-> Open-- > Select an image, as shown below:

1.2. Write to U disk

Start-- > write to the hard disk image

Note: writing method: I chose usb-hdd+ v2, which is said to be more compatible. Other defaults are fine!

1.3. Start production

Click write, start making U disk boot disk, wait a long time.

Note: some tutorials on the Internet say: delete the packages folder where you burn the root directory of the u disk, and copy centos-7.0-1406-x86_64-dvd.iso to the root directory of the u disk. It's not really necessary. On the contrary, I made an error after deleting it, and during the installation process, the startup software installer reported an error.

2. Start the installation

2.1.Reboot the system and change the bios boot sequence to U disk boot.

Method 1: different computers may modify it in different ways. For example, for my Acer, when the acer logo interface appears, press f12 to bring up the boot menu interface, in which you can select a boot disk (you need to re-select each restart), as shown below:

The choice of shortcut keys depends on the model of your motherboard. Now it is usually turned on and pressed f11 or f12, while Asus is f8.

Method 2: you can also directly enter the bios setting interface and adjust the boot order.

Set the u disk as the first item and save and exit.

Note: this method 2 needs to be modified after the installation is completed. Otherwise, you won't be able to get into the system!

If the above settings are normal, after rebooting, you will enter the centos installation interface, as shown below:

Note: here, there are many tutorials online with the following interface, but this is not the case when I actually installed it (the figure in the virtual machine is indeed shown below):

Note: for U disk installation, we need to modify the image location.

Select the first item: install centos 7 and press the e key to enter the editing interface.

Vmlinuz initrd=initrd.img inst.stage2=hd:label=centos\ x207\ x20x86_64 quiet

Change to vmlinuz initrd=initrd.img inst.stage2=hd:/dev/sdb4 quiet, where sdb4 is the partition where the u disk is located, or it may be sdb1, which can be modified according to the actual situation (you can also use other methods)

2.3.After modification, press ctrl+x to perform the modification. Normally, you will enter the installation interface, as shown below:

Select the language you want to install, and click to continue, as shown below:

2.3.1, the choice of time zone

If you install the English version, you need to change the time zone to Shanghai.

2.3.2, keyboard

The layout of English keyboard and Chinese keyboard is the same!

2.3.3, language support

Can choose to support multiple languages at the same time

2.3.4, installation source (can not be moved by default)

The program will be selected automatically, it can be made manually and can be directly designated as the network location!

2.3.5, software selection (note)

After entering, you can see that there are several options, which can be selected as needed, as shown below:

Note: the default is the minimum installation, there is no interface after installation!

2.3.6, installation location (important)

I don't have a screenshot here, the following picture is from the network, which is a little different from the reality.

1. In the local standard disk item, select the local hard disk for local disk and u disk.

2. Among other storage options, select the partition I want to configure.

3. Note: the bottom complete disk summary and bootstrap program, open, choose not to add boot (add later), do not know if it is my problem here or a common problem, first choose to install the boot next step will go wrong! Finally, click finish to enter the following interface

Note: the partition here is best chosen as the standard partition. Because: when booting with grub, the lvmpv partition cannot be mounted, it is not recognized at all! It is best not to use automatic creation

1. Click the + sign to add swap and / two partitions respectively

Size: swap is generally twice the size of memory

/ for all remaining space

This step requires special attention:

(1) when you choose to automatically create a partition, the partition information cannot be updated (this may be my own problem, waiting for everyone to test)

When finished, click finish, and return to the configuration summary interface.

Note: at this time, we select the installation location item, boot one of the partitions that have not been added above, and click to finish it directly until we return to the configuration interface!

2.3.6, network and hostname

The default network is off and can be opened here

2.4. Finally, click to start the installation as follows:

During the installation process, you can set the root password and new users (the second half of the installation can no longer be modified! ) just wait for installation!

Note: during installation, if the password is too simple, you need to click finish twice to confirm!
