This article shows you how to analyze power intent, the content is concise and easy to understand, can definitely brighten your eyes, through the detailed introduction of this article, I hope you can get something.
Power intent is used to describe the "electrical characteristics" of the chip, including operating voltage, voltage switch, low-power cell insertion strategy, chip power state and so on. The design requirements of low-power chips have given birth to power intent. From 2007 to 2018, the development of Power intent can be divided into two stages: from CPF/UPF to IEEE1801, which involves three organizations:
Accellera, Si2, IEEE .
In 2007, Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) released CPF1.0 (Common Power Format).
CPF1.1 was released in 2008.
CPF2.0 was released in 2011.
In 2007, Accellera released UPF1.0 (Unified Power Format).
In 2009, IEEE released its first version 1801, commonly known as UPF 2.0. IEEE1801-2009 is a semi-finished product with a lot of repetition and ambiguity. For downward compatibility, it includes the content of UPF1.0 and simply and roughly absorbs the concept of CPF.
UPF2.1 released in 2013, the more rigorous name is IEEE1801-2013, it is based on IEEE1801-2009, the integration of more CPF2.0 concepts, and delete repetition and ambiguity, has grown into a mature industry standard, since then C and S EDA tools are also gradually improved as a standard.
The 2015 release of IEEE1801-2015, also known as UPF3.0, enhances the modeling capabilities of power state and bottom-up, and increases the modeling of package and system level.
UPF1.0 has 32 commands.
IEEE1801-2009 adds 57 new commands, with a total of 88 commands, of which 49 are power intent commands and 39 are Query commands.
IEEE1801-2013 adds 11 new commands, a total of 86 commands, of which 46 are power intent commands, 6 are Power management commands, and 34 are Query commands.
IEEE1801-2015 adds 11 new commands, with a total of 62 commands, of which 51 are power intent commands, 6 are Power management commands, and 5 are Query commands.
After more than a decade of development, 1801 has adopted the strengths of various families and finally unified the rivers and lakes, which is the gospel of engineers, and they no longer have to suffer from the confusion of orders from various families. If you are still struggling with UPF1.0 or CPF today, stop procrastinating and stop slacking off and switch to 1801. You'd better follow the army in technological updates.
