GovCloud region and AWS China region have their own independent account systems, and the other nine regions share an account system and IAM services.

A limited preview version of the China (Beijing) region was launched in early 2014. A group of selected local Chinese companies and multinational companies with Chinese users have been invited to start using the Beijing regional version. Customers who want to use AWS resources in China need to create an Amazon AWS account, which is a set of certificates different from and independent of other global AWS accounts. Only customers with an Amazon AWS account can use the resources available in the AWS China (Beijing) region.

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) users can only be created and managed from the eastern United States (northern Virginia) or from the GovCloud region. IAM users created in the eastern United States can be used to access AWS products in all regions except the GovCloud region. IAM users created in the GovCloud area can only be used to access AWS products in the GovCloud region.

3. Connectivity

The GovCloud region and the AWS China region and the other nine regions are completely isolated, and the stored data is independent of each other, which means that AWS does not automatically transfer user data across regions. Most of the aws services are independent between regions, and some of them can be shared, including IAM, console, Route53 and so on.
