CTOnews.com, December 15 (Xinhua) the legal dispute over Apple's Corellium has finally come to an end after years of repeated sawing.

The dispute dates back to 2019, when Apple sued Corellium, alleging that it sold virtual iOS devices without authorization.

According to the previously disclosed 507 pages of litigation documents, Apple believes that Corellium's original intention to create virtual iOS tools is malicious. The company sells the software to spyware and malware distributors, including NSO Group, the maker of well-known cracking software Pegasus.

In the lawsuit, Apple argued that the virtual iOS tool created by Corellium had a malicious purpose and sold it to the NSO Group (its Pegasus tool can be used to monitor social activists, journalists and others), and so on. It is mentioned in the document that NSO Group tried the tool in advance as early as 2019.

CTOnews.com reported in May that after years of war of words, a US court ruled that Corellium did not infringe any copyright on Apple products.

The US Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit ruled in May that Corellium's CORSEC simulator was protected by the principle of fair use in copyright law.

The court agreed with Corellium that the virtual machine running iOS is for security research purposes only.

A panel of three judges said Corellium's products "promote scientific progress through security research on important operating systems". The court added that iOS is "functional operating software that does not belong to the core of copyright".

According to Forbes, Apple and Corellium have reached a settlement, but the terms have not been made public.
