In addition, the technology aggregates WAN links, including broadband, allowing multiple public network links as one large link. VWAN can also load balance across multiple communication channels, depending on the state of the links that make up the large links.

Hybrid WAN

Hybrid WAN, on the other hand, is used to connect two remote WAN to a single branch office, using various connections to route traffic. The technology uses a combination of Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS), Carrier Ethernet and T3 links. Routing traffic over multiple links provides network engineers with sufficient bandwidth and helps ensure application performance

Hybrid WAN differs from SD-WAN in that it routes traffic for various connections based on policy and available bandwidth. In theory, hybrid WAN is the springboard of SD-WAN, in which path selection and configuration are controlled by policy. Although several hybrid WAN include SDN components, it is not important for this technology.
