CTOnews.com news on December 14, Wechat released the data report on Wechat intellectual property protection in 2023, and the Wechat brand rights protection platform was upgraded to an one-stop rights protection platform, covering Wechat personal accounts, moments, official accounts, Mini Program, video live streaming, short videos, video accounts, Wechat group chat, and WeCom 9 major function scenarios.

Wechat cracked down on a total of 45000 personal accounts this year, down about 13% from the same period last year, 69% from the same period last year, and 52% from the same period last year. The number of fake accounts that have been banned has increased by 300% compared with the same period last year, the number of fake accounts blocked by historical friends has increased by 365% compared with the same period last year, the appeal pass rate is less than 0.01%, and the accuracy of punishment is close to 100%.

In terms of video numbers, Wechat received nearly 310,000 infringement complaints from right holders in the whole year, cleared 200000 + pieces of copyright infringing content after examination, banned a total of 3700 + copyright infringement videos, and punished 3300 + fake video accounts. Among them, nearly 2000 video accounts were permanently banned, and more than 950 related personal accounts selling fake Wechat were punished, more than 110000 keywords were blocked, and improper naming was blocked 20,000 times a day.

Throughout the year, Wechat dealt with more than 77000 fake live studios and punished more than 25000 anchors. In the whole year, nearly 100,000 applications for fake qualifications were successfully intercepted, and nearly 1 million applications for suspected counterfeit goods were rejected.

CTOnews.com noted that there were 86000 complaints about trademark infringement on Wechat's public platform, a decrease of 22% over the same period last year, and 33,000 cases of infringement were verified, a decrease of 20% over the same period last year; 170,000 complaints about copyright infringement were handled, and measures were taken to effectively remove and block nearly 100,000 cases of content and information; a total of 25,000 plagiarism complaints on the mobile platform were reviewed and 120,000 plagiarism content was handled. The public platform intercepts more than 180000 keywords and intercepts improper registration and naming more than 11500 times a day.

In terms of games, Wechat determined that the number of Mini Game with copyright infringement was 522 in the whole year, and the number of Mini Game with copyright infringement was 286.

At the same time, Wechat Brand Protection WeBrand plans to assist law enforcement agencies in 24 intellectual property criminal cases, arresting 161suspects, involving a total amount of 1.86 billion yuan.

38.98 million official account articles have obtained original logos, intercepting and dealing with nearly 430000 non-original works, and video accounts have 130 million original declaration works, covering more than 6.5 million original content creators.

In 2023, a total of 571 global brands joined the Wechat brand protection platform, with European brands accounting for 36%, Chinese brands accounting for 33%, American brands accounting for 19%, and brands from Australia, Japan and South Korea accounting for 12%.
