Now, at the end of 2023, Microsoft Edge is in an inexplicable decline, with controversial and unfriendly behavior forcing people to express their dissatisfaction on social media. In most cases, Edge's official X account chooses to ignore these posts.

However, the official Edge account made a bold move today. On December 12, a user named @ cadenzza_ posted a screenshot on social media X showing Edge's repeated attempts to get users to set Bing as the default search engine. Like the infamous "agree" buttons in the Windows 11 upgrade tip, this prompt lacks an explicit "reject" option and a "never" option.

The user got an official @ Edge account on Twitter and got an embarrassing reply two days later. In response to users' complaints, Edge's official account responded: "No, it's not." And added a blue heart-shaped expression to the back.

Unsurprisingly, the response caused outrage. Some users want Microsoft to be subject to antitrust lawsuits, while others criticize Microsoft's arrogant behavior. Others say they have abandoned Edge for other browsers, even at the expense of completely uninstalling Edge on Windows 10 and 11.

CTOnews.com noted that the European Union had previously forced Microsoft to allow users to uninstall Edge browsers.

Obviously, Microsoft must rethink its strategy, because what they are doing will only bore users. Statcounter's monthly report also shows that these boring promotions have not brought more users to Edge.
