In October of this year, EqualOcean claimed that "PICO will be gradually shut down and byte-bouncing abandon meta-universe" on the grounds that "PICO is not good at byte-beating hardware, does not live up to expectations over the past few years, and sees no hope for the future."

According to the latest statistical report released by market research agency Counterpoint Research, shipments of VR head display equipment in China fell by 56% in the first half of 2023, ending two consecutive years of growth from 2021 to 2022.
