CTOnews.com, Dec. 13 (Xinhua)-- Apple is "overweight" made in India and plans to increase its iPhone production of "made in India" fivefold within five years, according to Bloomberg.

Foxconn Technology Group, which is part of Apple's supply chain, has invested at least $1 billion in one of its Indian plants, Bloomberg said. Foxconn is expected to allocate about $2.7 billion (currently about 19.386 billion yuan) to the Indian plant to strengthen India's assembly chain and expand iPhone capacity.

▲ Tuyuan Bloomberg CTOnews.com reported earlier today that Foxconn's first assembly line at its Bangalore plant in India will be completed in April next year, when it will begin its iPhone assembly work for the first time. With the successful completion of the project, Foxconn will significantly increase its production in India.
