CTOnews.com, December 13 (Xinhua)-- the hacker group Rhysida claimed to have successfully hacked into Sony Game Studio Insomniac Games and stole a large number of sensitive data, including the personal information of Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor of Spider-Man 2 protagonist Peter Parker, according to Australian media Cyber Daily.

To confirm the intrusion, Rhysida released some of the data and is auctioning off the full packet of bitcoin, which costs $2 million. In addition, Rhysida said it would release data stolen from Insomniac Games within seven days.

The leaked data also include information about Insomniac Games's upcoming Wolverine game, such as screenshots and some character art images, which "seem to be related to other Marvel characters in the game," according to Cyber Daily. In addition, the leaked data included scanned passports of Insomniac Games employees, including Yuri Lowenthal's.

Sony said in a statement that it had taken note of reports of cyber attacks on Insomniac Games, but there was no evidence that other Sony units were also affected.

CTOnews.com noted that this is not the first cyber attack on Sony this year. In May, Sony leaked the information of about 6800 employees in a large-scale cyber attack.

The US Department of Justice and the Bureau of Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security jointly issued a cyber security alert last month, saying that Rhysida was able to hack into enterprise systems "mainly because organizations do not enable multi-factor authentication by default".
