Shulou(Shulou.com)12/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, December 12 (Xinhua)-- an employee at Tesla's Fremont, Calif., factory was injured while inspecting Model Y earlier this year, and the company could face a total fine of $38000 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 273000 yuan), Bloomberg reported.
Documents obtained by Bloomberg show that Tesla did not ensure that the power to the conveyor belt was cut off during the workers' quality inspection. In April this year, a female worker was trapped in the car after the door of the Model Y hit a fixed post of the factory. The document did not elaborate on the injury of the female worker, but described it as "serious".
The California Department of Occupational Safety and Health (California Division of Occupational Safety and Health) has filed four safety violations charges against Tesla and proposed a fine of $18000. In addition, the department recommended fines of $18000 for Tesla's failure to maintain an effective injury and disease prevention program, and two fines of $1000 for "general" violations at factories in California.
Tesla is challenging the fine, Bloomberg reported. Regulators inspected the Fremont plant between April and October and noted that the company had failed to keep the factory ground free of obstacles that could cause workers to trip. According to reports, Tesla has not been able to establish written procedures to control "hazardous energy" in the process of cleaning, maintaining, repairing, setting up and adjusting some machinery.
This is not the first time the Fremont plant has received regulatory attention because of safety concerns. Last year, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing claimed "rampant racism" at the factory and accused Tesla of turning a blind eye to racial discrimination at the factory for years, a charge Tesla denied. In September, the Equal Employment opportunities Commission filed another lawsuit against Tesla, alleging that the company tolerated serious harassment of black employees at the factory.
