Due to the differences in subsidy and import tariff systems in Southeast Asian countries, as well as differences in certification and testing standards, CNAC will be responsible for information collection and other services and provide support to local Chinese car companies.

In Southeast Asia, at least 10 Chinese car companies, including BYD, Great Wall, SAIC, Geely, Changan, Guangzhou Automobile and Nezha, have entered the local market, and most of them plan to produce pure electric vehicles there. The report also said that Thailand, known as the "Japanese car base", is the largest car producer in Southeast Asia.

In Thailand, the combined share of new car sales from January to October was 10 per cent, up 5.5 per cent from a year earlier, while that of Japanese manufacturers was 78.3 per cent, down 7.5 per cent from a year earlier. If you only look at electric vehicles, although electric vehicles account for only about 10% of local new car sales, Chinese manufacturers account for 80% of pure electric vehicles.
