Officials pointed out that the hyperbolic II verification rocket successfully completed its second flight test mission, realizing the first reusable rocket flight in China. This mission verified the rapid reuse capability of the first full size liquid oxygen methane rocket stage successfully completing the vertical take-off and landing recovery mission in China, the reliability of low-altitude return and landing technology, the minimal detection process, specifications and standards for rocket multiplexing, the reliability of each system and single repeated flight and the adaptability of complex environment, the feasibility of simple maintenance, short cycle and high-frequency repeated flight, and the adaptability of rocket recovery area processing system.

CTOnews.com previously reported that the rocket successfully completed the first vertical take-off and landing flight test on November 2,2023, belonging to the first vertical take-off and landing (VTVL) flight test of liquid rocket full size and sub-level in China.

After the first flight was completed, Star Glory completed the re-use maintenance inspection of the rocket in only 20 days, and transferred to the re-use mission again with complete success.

Officials said today's flight further acquired subsamples of flight data for each system, provided technical accumulation for more and more efficient reuse flights of reusable launch vehicles, and provided key technical verification for the ongoing development of the medium and large reusable launch vehicle Hyperbola III.

This flight, interstellar glory successfully solved the problems and key technologies derived from the complex aerodynamic, force, thermal interference and high-precision landing, low overload landing and other new requirements in the vertical recovery "last kilometer" mission profile, filling the gap in this field in China.
