After media reports, Microsoft Advertising and Web Services CEO Mikhail Palahim (Mikhail Parakhin) also admitted that the Edge Copilot skill currently has limitations.

Edge Copilot is a skill that requires video preprocessing. When there are subtitles in the video, this function can summarize the main information; if there are no subtitles in the video, there is no way to preprocess the video for the time being.

To put it bluntly, the ability of Edge Copilot to deal with YouTube video information is essentially to deal with the subtitles in the video and summarize the main content based on the subtitle information, rather than sampling and analyzing the video stream.

In addition to displaying video summaries, Edge Copilot can generate timestamps. Even if the uploaded YouTube videos do not contain timestamps, Copilot can automatically generate timestamps and summaries of key parts by analyzing the video content, providing viewers with a detailed overview of the content without the need to manually fast-forward the video.

At present, this update of Microsoft Copilot is only available to some users, and plans to gradually make it available to all users. The company also plans to extend this video information processing capability to mobile devices to further expand its influence and coverage.
