Jinping facility is located 2400 meters underground in Jinping Mountain, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with a total volume of 330000 cubic meters. The cosmic ray flux of the laboratory is only 1/100000000 of that of the surface, and it has many advantages, such as "very low environmental radon emission", "very low environmental radiation", "ultra-low cosmic ray flux" and "ultra-clean space".

According to Yalong River Company, during the construction of the project, the construction unit innovatively used 10 layers of materials to fortify the surface of 100000 square meters of caverns, shielding water and radon produced by rocks, and the radon inhibition rate reached 99%. At present, the project has built the world's largest physical experiment liquid nitrogen thermostat tank and polyethylene shielded cabin, built the world's longest distance fresh air supply system, and effectively solved the environmental radiation of the underground experimental space.

The first batch of 10 experimental project teams from universities and research institutes such as Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Beijing normal University, China Institute of Atomic Energy, Wuhan Institute of Rock and soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc., were stationed to carry out scientific experiments.
