CTOnews.com, December 7 (Xinhua)-- the propulsion module of Lunar ship 3, which carried out the country's first lunar mission, has returned to Earth orbit after completing the lunar mission, the Indian Space Research Organization announced in a press release on Monday.

The agency claimed in a press release that this was an important achievement, suggesting that India could restart the equipment on the moon. The main task of the propulsion module is to put the lunar ship 3 lander and rover into a tight orbit around the moon and complete a "historic" lunar landing. When the lander successfully lands on the moon, the propulsion module still needs to remain in lunar orbit.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced that the mission goal of Lunar ship 3 has been fully achieved.

According to previous CTOnews.com reports, the Lunar ship-3 probe was launched from the Sadish Dawan Space Center in India on July 14 and successfully made a soft landing near the South Pole of the moon at 18:04 local time on August 23 (20:34 Beijing time). This makes India the fourth country in the world to successfully land on the moon and the first country to land near the moon's south pole.

After the lunar craft 3 successfully landed on the moon, its lander and lunar rover went dormant on September 2. However, at the end of September this year, India failed to receive its signal in the process of awakening the "lunar ship 3".

Scientists believe that the hope of the probe "waking up" is getting slimmer. According to scientists, there is about a 50% chance that Lunar ship 3 will survive the cold moonlight. And if Lunar ship 3 cannot be awakened, it will stay on the moon as India's "lunar ambassador".
