Based on DSP demodulation of coherent optical signal, the endogenous optical sensing technology combined with AI / ML algorithm makes optical fiber sense, judge and feed back external environmental changes.

Nokia Bell said that compared with the traditional distributed sensing system, the related technology does not need to add additional sensing facilities, only needs to rely on the existing transmission equipment coherent signal transmission and digital signal analysis and processing, the monitoring distance is not limited, does not affect the original optical communication network, and can realize convenient, fast and flexible monitoring of optical fiber link environmental parameters. It has the advantages of low cost, flexible application, easy expansion and large-scale application.
