He said there were "clearly some flaws" in the company's structure and that the new board was seriously considering the best structure in line with its purpose. He declined to comment on the previously rumored Super Intelligence Q* (CTOnews.com Note: pronounced Q-Star).

Tuyuan Pixabay earlier quoted two people familiar with the matter as saying that before OpenAI ousted Altman, several researchers had sent a letter to the board warning that a breakthrough in its artificial intelligence technology had been found to be a threat to humans.

OpenAI's progress on the project, called Q *, is said to have led some company insiders to believe that this may be a breakthrough in finding "super intelligence" (AGI, as OpenAI calls it, defined as a "AI system that is smarter than humans").

Smith, president of Microsoft, later denied the claims, saying: "I don't think it's true at all. I think it's obviously a disagreement between the board and others, but it's not based on such concerns."
