The two sides will strengthen cooperation mechanisms such as exchange of high-level visits, daily contact, information exchange, exchange and learning, and personnel training, speed up the application and independent innovation of new information technology in the meteorological field, and support high-quality meteorological development.

According to the agreement, the two sides will promote the application of domestic high-performance computing systems in the meteorological field, the application of artificial intelligence technology in meteorological forecasting services, the application of meteorological key information infrastructure, the deepening of information technology application innovation in the meteorological industry, and the application of meteorological services in Huawei terminals.

Wang Tao, executive director of Huawei, said that since the signing of the strategic cooperation framework agreement in 2019, the two sides have jointly carried out a lot of exploration and practice and achieved good results. He pointed out that the 14th five-year Plan for National Meteorological Development clearly focuses on promoting the application of big data in meteorology, building digital meteorological infrastructure, and strengthening the integration and application of new generation information technology. as the world's leading provider of information and communication solutions, Huawei is willing and able to help the China Meteorological Administration achieve the above development goals. It is hoped that the two sides will give full play to their respective advantages, deepen business cooperation around high-performance computing, artificial intelligence meteorological applications, key information infrastructure, and the application of Huawei terminal meteorological services, and promote meteorological modernization by digital and intelligent means.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, in early July this year, the top international academic journal Nature magazine published the research results of Huawei Cloud's Pangu model research and development team, "three-dimensional neural network for accurate medium-range global weather forecast." this is also the first paper published in the official issue of Nature by a Chinese technology company as the only signed unit in recent years.

In October this year, Huawei Cloud announced that it would work with Shenzhen Meteorological Bureau to build a large regional weather forecast model, explore new forecasting technologies for meteorological elements such as heavy precipitation, and provide high-resolution medium-and short-term weather forecast products in Shenzhen and its surrounding areas.
