CTOnews.com news on December 5, some time ago, there was feedback from users that non-HP devices running Win10 and Win11 systems would automatically install HP Smart applications through Microsoft Store.

Microsoft has now confirmed the problem, as well as the issue that "printer names and icons may change automatically". A Microsoft survey shows that the problem is not caused by HP updates.

According to Microsoft, symptoms may include the following:

Some Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices install HP Smart applications automatically.

Regardless of the printer manufacturer, the printer is renamed the HP printer. Most are named HP LaserJet M101-M106, and the printer icon may change.

Double-click the printer to display the error message "there are no tasks available on this page".

CTOnews.com reminds you that there is only a change in the printer name, which does not affect the normal use of the printer.

Microsoft noted that because these symptoms are related to the automatic installation of HP Smart, Windows devices that do not have access to Microsoft Store are not expected to be affected by these issues.

Unfortunately, Microsoft did not mention any solutions or temporary fixes. Microsoft only said it was working with its partners to investigate the issue and provide updates when more information is available.
