However, a recent test conducted by ComputerBase, a German technology media, has brought the opposite result.

The media tests and installs three Linux distributions of Arch Linux, Nobora Linux and Poppy Linux OS on the same hardware, and runs using Valve's Proton compatibility layer to compare the native performance of the Win11 system.

The media test platform is Ryzen 7 5800X (non-3D) CPU and Radeon RX 6700 XT GPU, and the test games include Cyberpunk 2077, the Land of the Curse, Ricky and Tinker Bell: time Jump, Starry Sky and Law 2 of Taros.

CTOnews.com Note: the above games are limited to the Windows platform, using Valve's Proton compatibility layer and running on three test Linux distributions.

The test results show that the Linux distributions run by all three compatibility layers narrowly outperform Windows 11.

Nobara OS topped the list with 100 fps, while Arch Linux and POP! _ OS ranked second and third with scores of 99 fps and 95 fps, respectively. Windows 11 ranked last, with an average frame rate of 94 fps.
