CTOnews.com, December 4 (Xinhua)-- Amazon has officially launched AWS SDK for Rust and Kotlin, saying that the SDK has entered a stable phase and that developers can use it in a production environment.

CTOnews.com Note: AWS SDK is a series of development kits provided by Amazon for developers to create, deploy and manage applications on the AWS platform, and provides API in multiple languages to simplify the steps for developers to operate AWS services and resources.

Amazon says it has designed AWS SDK for Kotlin from scratch, claiming to be able to provide a development experience that conforms to the characteristics of the Kotlin language. Officials said that Kotlin is more interoperable than Java because Kotlin is not a JVM-only language. Kotlin multi-platform capability allows developers to write JVM, JavaScript and other code. The new SDK can make full use of the features of Kotlin language and significantly improve the cross-platform ability of the project.

▲ source Amazon has learned that Kotlin-specific AWS SDK supports domain-specific languages (Domain-Specific Language,DSL) and can be "simply mixed with other languages", allowing developers to call Java code from Kotlin. According to Amazon, developers can use Kotlin SDK to develop applications on the JVM platform or Android API level 24.

In addition, Amazon also introduced AWS SDK for the Rust language, which provides type-safe API, which is modular in design, and Amazon claims that the SDK has "performance, reliability and productivity unique to the Rust language". It is officially mentioned that Rust SDK supports async / await, non-blocking IO and so on. At present, the SDK has been adapted to more than 300 AWS services.
