If this forecast comes true, Russia will sell 33.5 million to 34 million smartphones this year, more than ever before.

The report said that the main driver of sales growth this year is the large-scale marketing activities carried out by retailers, especially promotions in cooperation with operators. Among them, Xiaomi, Infinix and other brands have launched a series of preferential activities in cooperation with local operator MTS.

The move to promote Chinese brands to local customers has boosted smartphone sales, according to a retail market participant. At the same time, this growth is also inseparable from the advertising activities, promotions and generally fierce competition of Chinese brands.

On the other hand, record smartphone sales in Russia are also due to people starting to have "spare money", especially in some industries where manpower shortages and rising wages have led to pent-up demand to play a role.
