Although the raspberry pie 5 does not provide a PCIe interface, it is forced to reach a maximum speed of 10 GT/s, which is close to the PCIe Gen3, while the unit width of the previous raspberry pie 4 is close to the PCIe Gen2 specification, and there is simply not enough bandwidth to control the independent GPU.

The Raspberry Pie 5 comes with a new Broadcom BCM2712 processor, which Jeff says "seems to have fixed the PCIe bus quirks that plagued the previous generation of Pi 4."

The raspberry pie 5 does not have a regular PCIe interface, and Jeff has customized a conversion board that connects directly to the raspberry pie 5 through an FPC connector, and requires ATX power to power the AMD Radeon RX 460 graphics card independently.
