Sales of new energy vehicles (including pure electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell models) totaled 3.455 million in the quarter, up 28.1% from the same period last year, according to the data.

Although pure electric cars (BEV) account for about 70% of sales, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) have an outstanding annual growth rate of 47.8%, which is an important factor in maintaining the growth rate of the new energy vehicle market.

Among the top 10 brands of pure electric models in this quarter, the difference in sales between Tesla and BYD was less than a thousand. If the "momentum" brand under BYD is included in the total amount, it will be able to surpass Tesla. BYD has the characteristics of diversified product lines and wide price coverage, which can help brands expand beyond first-and second-tier cities, the report said.

Although Tesla continues to reduce prices, the RMB price band between 26 and 300000 is still dominated by first-and second-tier cities, creating differences in positioning between BYD and Tesla, resulting in a continuous narrowing of the sales gap.

GAC Ean, Volkswagen and SAIC GM Wuling continued to maintain their 3rd, 4th and 5th places in the third quarter.

Weilai, who has not been on the list for a long time, ranked ninth in the quarter. The report said that Xilai is still trapped in the haze of huge losses and layoffs, in addition to increasing sales, how to use superior technology in exchange for financial aid is an important strategy for the survival of the new car factory.

BYD firmly ranked first in the PHEV model, while ideal car ranked second, with quarterly sales exceeding 100000 for the first time.
