CTOnews.com, Nov. 30 (Xinhua)-- Swedish lithium-ion battery maker Northvolt, led by former Apple AI expert Siddharth Khullar, is accelerating the development of advanced automotive batteries, according to Bloomberg.

Siddharth Khullar worked at Apple for more than six years, developing sleep tracking technology for Apple Watch and autopilot.

He joined Northvolt a year ago and is now responsible for leading an 18-person professional team that uses artificial intelligence technology to control the battery production process and accelerate the development of advanced batteries.

In the process of designing and producing batteries, a large amount of data will be produced, and without the help of artificial intelligence, human beings will not be able to deal with these data effectively.

Northvolt hopes that artificial intelligence can analyze these data, reduce battery production costs without affecting product quality, and accelerate the development of advanced batteries.

Northvolt, which is currently expanding battery production in Sweden and plans to build factories in Germany and Canada, has successfully attracted $9 billion (CTOnews.com Note: about RMB 64.26 billion currently) and has secured more than $55 billion in orders (currently about RMB 392.7 billion). Volvo, BMW, Polestar and Volkswagen are ready to become Northvolt customers.
