CTOnews.com, November 30 (Xinhua) Activision Blizzard plans to cooperate with Epic Games in 2019 to build its own game application store on the Android platform to circumvent the restrictions of Google's Play store and collect transaction fees by launching games from other manufacturers, according to foreign media The Verge.

In a private email with Tim Sweeney, chief executive of Epic, Activision's chief financial officer, Armin Zerza, is understood to have claimed that the game app store has a single payment system, a single place to buy games on mobile platforms, and that the store will charge 10 to 12 per cent transaction fees for third-party apps, which is lower than the 30 per cent transaction fee charged by Google's Play store for game applications.

Blizzard also said that its ultimate goal is to release mobile games such as call of Duty, Candy Legend and Diablo exclusively on the Android / iOS platform through its own game store.

However, the plan has been cancelled by Activision Blizzard, and lawyers, witnesses and experts from Epic and Google have been debating in court whether Activision Blizzard really plans to launch the game app store, while Zerza said in his testimony that the idea of the app store was only a "very early exploratory discussion", adding that "obviously, we have never pursued it because it is not economically attractive to us."
