CTOnews.com November 29 news, today, Honda Honda held a second round of electric industry initiative presentation meeting, executive specialist and electric industry development minister Inoue Shiji, electric industry development headquarters two-round power product electric industry development minister Mihara Dashu attended the meeting and gave an explanation.

Honda raised its annual global sales target for electric two-wheelers in 2030 to 4 million, up from 3.5 million announced in 2022. By 2030, Honda will launch 30 electric two-wheel models around the world.

CTOnews.com learned from the initiative briefing that this year, Honda launched "Honda Cub e:", "Dax e:" and "ZOOMER e:" three electric bicycle models in China, and "EM1 e:" in Japan and Europe respectively.

In addition, Honda will launch models based on the "SC e:Concept" displayed at the 2023 Japan Mobile Travel Show in 2024, and more FUN-interesting models and plug-in rechargeable electric two-wheelers in 2025. In addition to these models, Honda will actively launch more than 30 models, including racing cars, street cars, off-road vehicles, children's vehicles and ATV models, by 2030, accelerating the electrification of all two-wheelers.

Honda RoadSYNC, the online connection service launched by Honda in 2020, will be upgraded iteratively and is currently developing the next generation of intelligent Internet connection service system that will be available on the 2024 model. Honda plans to simultaneously install these intelligent networking functions on high-end fuel models, obtain the accumulation of data through electric two-wheelers and fuel models at the same time, and apply them to vehicle research and development and service upgrading.

In addition, in addition to the ternary lithium-ion batteries used in Honda's models, the lithium iron phosphate battery under development is scheduled to go on sale in 2025.

In the field of electric second-round business, Honda will build an online sales model that customers can buy without going to offline dealerships, improving customer convenience, while also through the existing sales network services built by Honda's more than 30,000 dealerships around the world.

By 2030, Honda will reduce the cost of electric two-wheelers by 50%, based on the current electric two-wheelers with replaceable batteries. In order to achieve this goal, efficiency will be further improved through the use of plug-in rechargeable batteries, the optimization of battery units, the use of general module belts to improve procurement and production efficiency, and through dedicated factories.

The production of electric two-wheelers will first use the infrastructure of existing fuel models, in order to build a solid system and ensure that the sales target of 4 million units will be achieved by 2030. Honda will gradually start operating dedicated production plants for electric two-wheelers around the world from 2027. Compared with traditional factories, through the use of modular technology, the length of the final assembly line will be reduced by about 40%, in order to achieve an efficient production system. The estimated investment of each dedicated plant is 50 billion yen (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2.415 billion yuan), and the annual production capacity will reach 1 million units.

To promote the electrification of two-wheelers, Honda invested 100 billion yen (currently about 4.83 billion yuan) in the five years from 2021 to 2025. In addition, Honda plans to invest 400 billion yen (currently about 19.32 billion yuan) in the five years from 2026 to 2030, with a total investment of about 500 billion yen (currently about 24.15 billion yuan) over 10 years.

After 2031, in order to further enhance its competitiveness, Honda will invest in a global production system and promote software evolution to maximize sales of two-wheeled electric vehicles.

In terms of profit targets, Honda aims to achieve an operating profit margin of more than 5% for the electric second-round business and more than 10% for the second-round business as a whole by 2030. In addition, after 2030, we will strive to achieve an operating profit margin of more than 10% for the second round of electric enterprises, and further increase the total profits.
