CTOnews.com, November 28, Microsoft plans to abandon Defender Application Guard for Office, as well as a number of Windows Security Isolation API.

Microsoft said that after being deprecated, it is recommended to migrate to Defender for Endpoint, Protected View and Windows Defender Application Control.

Defender Application Guard for Office was launched in November 2019 and is initially limited to organizations with Microsoft 365E5 or Microsoft 365E5 security licenses.

This is a security feature designed specifically for enterprise users of Win10 and Win11 systems, covering Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Defender Application Guard for Office mainly restricts files downloaded from untrusted sources, ensures that they are opened in secure sandboxie, and prevents applications from accessing trusted resources on users' devices to prevent potential threats.

Microsoft Defender application protection for Office has been deprecated and is no longer updated. This deprecation also includes Windows.Security.Isolation API for Microsoft Defender Application Guard for Office.
