CTOnews.com, November 28, according to CCTV, the new Chengdu-Qinghai Xining Railway, the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway, was officially put into operation this morning (28 November) from Qingbaijiang East to Zhenjiang pass.

According to reports, the segmented construction of the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway, the section from the east of Chengdu to the east of the Qingbai River and the section from the east to the west of the sea to Xining, respectively, are on the same line as the Xi'an-Chengdu high-speed railway and the Lanxin high-speed railway and have been put into operation; the section from Zhenjiang pass to the west of Haidong is under construction; and the section from the east of Qingbai River to Zhenjiang pass will be opened this time.

Due to the steep terrain, the project began construction in March 2011, but it took 12 years to open, including 33 bridges, including the Zhenjiangguan Fifth Line Bridge, and 10 tunnels, including the Yue Longmen Tunnel.

The section starts from Qingbaijiang East Station and passes through Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu, Guanghan City, Shifang City and Mianzhu City of Deyang City, Anzhou District of Mianyang City, Maoxian County and Songpan County of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, and connects to Zhenjiang pass Station of Songpan County with a total length of 206 km.

As shown in the picture, this section has a total of 10 stations, including Sanxingdui, Anzhou and Maoxian, except Qingbaijiang East Station, but Shidaguan and Diexi are railway technical operation stations and do not handle passenger transport business.

After the opening and operation of this section, it will put an end to the history of no railway in northwest Sichuan. With the opening of this line, the fastest points from Chengdu East Station to Sanxingdui, Mianzhu South, Maoxian County and Zhenjiang pass stations are 18, 31, 55 and 86 respectively.

After the opening of the section from east of Qingbai River to Zhenjiang, only the section from Zhenjiang pass to the west of Haidong is under construction. It is expected that the section from Zhenjiang pass to Huangshengguan will be opened in 2024, when the railway will reach the Songpan and Huanglong Jiuzhai stations, and the land time to the western Sichuan plateau will be further shortened. After the completion and opening of the whole line, Chengdu to Xining is expected to reach in 4.5 hours.

In terms of fares, CTOnews.com Enquiry 12306 found that the lowest price of a second-class seat from Chengdu East to Sanxingdui Station is 20 yuan, and that of a first-class seat is 31 yuan; that of a second-class seat from Chengdu East to Maoxian Station is 63 yuan, and that of a first-class seat is 100 yuan; and that of a second-class seat from Chengdu East to Zhenjiang Guan Station is 106 yuan, and that of a first-class seat is 169 yuan. At the initial stage of operation, the highest ticket price for the section from the east of Qingbaijiang to Zhenjiang is the published ticket price and the lowest is 5.5% off the published ticket price.
