CTOnews.com, November 26 (Xinhua) Lawrence Strol, chairman of Aston Martin, said that its best-selling DBX SUV will adopt the infotainment system of the DB12 sports car "in the near future."

DBX currently uses an outdated infotainment system imported from Mercedes-Benz, which requires a touchpad to control the screen rather than a touchscreen, a design that has been criticized by some users as lagging behind its competitors. DB12, on the other hand, uses a new touch screen (pictured below) and is equipped with software designed by Aston Martin.

"DBX's new infotainment system and new interior will follow the style of DB12 and will be available in the near future," Strol said on the company's third-quarter earnings call. " But he didn't give a specific time.

CTOnews.com notes that Aston Martin's sales in its main market, China, have fallen this year, where demand for DBX has been strong. The Chinese market pays more attention to high-tech interiors, which puts DBX at a disadvantage compared with competitors such as BMW XM.

However, Aston Martin says DBX sales rose 23 per cent in the first nine months of this year, mainly driven by DBX 707s, which account for 70 per cent of DBX's total sales this year. In addition, the overall sales of the DBX account for more than half of all sales of Aston Martin so far this year, underscoring the importance of the model.

Production of the DBX began in 2020 at Aston Martin's St. Assen plant in South Wales and was redesigned in 2022 with a version 707 named after its power, but the infotainment system has remained largely unchanged.
