This tunnel is a key project for traffic between north and south Xinjiang. The difficulty of the project can be imagined. This tunnel has the characteristics of "one length,""one more,""two depths" and "five heights."
One length: The tunnel is 22.1 kilometers long, which is equivalent to the sum of 5 Nanjing Yangtze River Bridges.
More than one: there are many fault zones, and the whole tunnel has to pass through 16 geological fault zones, so the construction difficulty is extremely high.
Second depth: the shaft with ventilation and other functions is deep, among which tunnel No.2 shaft is 706 meters deep, which is the deepest expressway shaft in the world today; the tunnel is buried deeply, with the maximum depth exceeding 1100 meters.
Five high: high ground stress, high earthquake intensity, high environmental protection requirements, high cold, high altitude. Among them, the maximum ground stress value of tunnel construction section reaches 21.8 MPa, which is equivalent to the weight of 218 kg of rock the size of human finger cover.
▲ In order to shorten the construction period, the constructor put forward the world's first construction scheme of "three holes + four shafts." The "three holes" refer to the left and right main tunnels and the middle guide service tunnel. The excavation diameter of the left and right main tunnels is 14m, and two lanes are designed respectively; the diameter of the service tunnel in the middle is 8.4m, which will be used as emergency and rescue channel in the future to prevent vehicle congestion due to accidents and other reasons in the tunnel.
"Four shafts" are excavated at the top of the tunnel to realize longitudinal ventilation, which is equivalent to the "breathing system" of the tunnel.
