The notice shows that the recall part of the vehicle front seat belt pretensioner (tightening the seat belt in place in the event of a collision) may lack rivets to secure quick connectors and wire plates, and defective pretensioners can increase the risk of injury in the event of a collision. CTOnews.com Note: the pretensioner is a seat belt assembly that can be tightened in place in the event of an accident to prevent the seat occupants from flying forward.

NHSTA blamed the problem on errors in the assembly process, and Honda will inspect and replace seat belt pretensioner components free of charge as needed.

As of November 16, Honda had received seven warranty claims, but there were no reports of casualties related to the fault pretensioner. With effect from January 8, 2024, a notification letter will be sent by mail to the registered owner of the affected vehicle.

Earlier this month, Honda recalled nearly 250000 cars in the United States because of possible bearing failure, causing the engine to stall and increasing the risk of a crash. Honda said in the filing that it had received 1450 warranty claims for the issue, but there were no reports of injuries.
