CTOnews.com, November 24, the Mozi Survey Telescope (WFST) was officially put into observation at the Lenghu Astronomical observation Base in Qinghai on September 17 this year, promoting China's time-domain astronomical research capability to the international advanced level.

(image source: Zijinshan Observatory of Chinese Academy of Sciences) recently announced that the two near-Earth asteroids discovered by Mozi Survey Telescope have been certified by the International asteroid Center (MPC) for 2023 WX1 and 2023 WB2, respectively, which are the first batch of near-Earth asteroids discovered by Mozi Survey Telescope.

The near-Earth asteroids 2023 WX1 and 2023 WB2 were first observed on November 18 with apparent brightness of 20.8 and 21.0, and apparent velocity of 0.513 degrees / day and 1.006 degrees / day, respectively.

After accumulating observation data from several observation stations, the initial orbits of 2023 WX1 and 2023 WB2 have been determined to be Apollo and Amor type near-Earth asteroids, respectively. The minimum orbital rendezvous distance between 2023 WX1 and Earth is 0.0416 astronomical units, and the estimated diameter is about 170m. It is a potentially threatening asteroid (PHA).
