Journey family, is the intelligent driving chip of Horizon, from 2019 to 2021, journey 2, journey 3, journey 5, three generations came out one after another, and achieved car companies fixed points and mass production of models.

Among them, Cheng 2 is the first mass-produced smart car chip in China, and Cheng 5 is the first mass-produced 100 TOPS-level smart car chip in China. As of September this year, total shipments of journey chips reached 4 million.

During this year's Shanghai Auto Show, Horizon launched the BPU Nash architecture, based on which there is widespread speculation that Horizon's next-generation chip expedition 6 is being developed.

This Guangzhou Auto Show, Horizon takes part in Journey 6, which confirms this guess, but also makes people marvel at its development efficiency.

It is understood that Expedition 6 is a series of products with a unified BPU Nash architecture, and there will be multiple versions to meet the needs of different high-level and low-level smart driving scenarios.

Among them, the high-equipped version has a journey of 6 flagship, the computing power reaches 560TOPS, and supports cutting-edge models such as Transformer, which is specially designed for high-level intelligent drivers.

This means that models with different market segments and different hardware configurations have the opportunity to develop intelligence based on Expedition 6.

At the same time, what is more noteworthy is that Horizon also announced the first batch of intended partners for Expedition 6, including BYD, Guangzhou Automobile, Volkswagen CARIAD and Horizon joint venture, Bosch.

Although the details of the cooperation have not yet been released, the gold content of this list is obvious enough.

BYD is the leader of new energy in the whole market, GAC is a top student in the successful transformation of established state-owned enterprises, Volkswagen is a super car company with global layout, and Bosch is the bearer of traditional Tier1.

This is an agreement between champions, including the intelligent head manufacturers in the industrial chain.

Moreover, some large manufacturers are deeply involved in the product definition in the early stage of 6 development, which means that it is expected to further improve the efficiency of mass production in the future.

Prior to this, Horizon Yu Kai revealed at the 2023 China Automobile Chongqing Forum that Horizon's mass production delivery efficiency is the industry leader, ideal ONE, ideal L8, Roewe RX5, Changan UNI-T and other models, all delivery time periods are less than 10 months.

It is understood that from a macro point of view, smart car chip manufacturers can be divided into four camps: "traditional automotive chip manufacturers", "providing a complete set of solutions", "universal, providing platform hardware + software tool chain manufacturers" and "full stack self-research manufacturers".

Horizon belongs to the category of "general-purpose, platform hardware + software tool chain manufacturer".

There is a classification of openness to chip manufacturers in the industry, and the order of openness from low to high is Mobileye, Nvidia, Horizon TogetherOS and BPU authorization. Horizon can flexibly choose the latter three modes according to the needs of downstream customers.

Horizon is based on on-board smart chips and opens up enabling in software to help suppliers and mainframe manufacturers master the development capability of full-stack software in the chip market, which will significantly improve each other's development and landing efficiency.

In addition, for the smart driving chip, scale is the key to whether it can become a successful product of a generation.

Horizon Yu Kai has pointed out that any mainframe factory to choose a chip is a strategic choice. Once a chip is selected or designated, it is basically necessary to invest in 100-person R & D investment, which is as deep as the sea.

In fact, the same is true not only for car companies, but also for chip companies. The more designated cooperation projects, the more conducive to diluting R & D costs and verifying product maturity.

On the other hand, with more and more attention to "ecology", enough mass production can support the iteration and prosperity of the upstream and downstream of the whole supply chain.

It can be said that the emergence of this list of intentions has opened up room for imagination for the prospect of Journey 6.
