CTOnews.com November 23 news, CTOnews.com learned from BMW Group official, November 22, BMW Shenyang production base sixth generation power battery project building has been officially capped, the main body of the building has been completed.

It is understood that the sixth generation power battery project is the localization supporting facilities of BMW "new generation model." The total investment of the project is RMB 10 billion yuan, with a planned area of 240,000 square meters, which is five times of the existing power battery production area. It will create 2000 new jobs and start in May this year.

After the pure electric BMW iX3, i3 and iX1, the new BMW i5 will also become the fourth pure electric model made by BMW Brilliance early next year.

It is reported that the voltage platform of the battery, powertrain and charging technology of the "new generation" model will be increased to 800 volts, thus optimizing the energy supply of the DC fast charging station. Current of up to 500 amperes can significantly increase charging power, thanks to which the power battery capacity can be reduced by up to 30% from 10-80% charging time.

According to reports, the new production facilities will lay the foundation for promoting the implementation of BMW Group's latest technology in China, as well as the development of low-carbon, efficient and high-quality power battery production, thus accelerating the pace of BMW's new generation of domestic models.
