CTOnews.com, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) BYD recently won a contract for its electric school bus, which won a statewide electric school bus contract from the California Department of General Affairs (DGS).

Patrick Duan, senior vice president of BYD | RIDE, said: "BYD | RIDE is very pleased that our battery electric school bus, Type An and Type D, are eligible for the California DGS contract. We look forward to providing zero-emission solutions to California school districts to help reduce emissions on the road."

Through the contract, team owners can buy BYD's achiever Type An and dreamer Type D school bus. BYD Achievement can hold up to 30 passengers and has a battery capacity of 141 kilowatt hours. The BYD Dreamer can hold up to 84 passengers and has a battery capacity of 230 kilowatt hours. BYD plans to launch the Type C school bus soon.

DGS, Calif., has a general contract for the purchase of an electric school bus, which has no guaranteed purchase amount and can be used as a two-year master contract with three one-year extension options.

The Office of General Services (DGS) is one of 10 organizations under the California government operation agency, and customers interested in adding BYD electric school buses to its fleet can buy directly through the California DGS contract.

Last year, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its plan to clean school buses, which has a budget of $1 billion in fiscal year 2023 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 7.16 billion yuan), which helps schools buy electric school buses and other alternatives.
