CTOnews.com, November 22, according to the latest report, iPhone 15 is very popular in Samsung's home market, South Korea.

Sales of the latest iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are up 41.9% from last year's iPhone 14 series in the first month after their official launch in South Korea on October 13, according to market tracker Atlas Research and Consulting.

Among them, sales of the smaller and cheaper iPhone 15 more than doubled, while sales of the highest-priced iPhone 15 Pro Max also increased by 42.3%.

In the past, patriotism was seen as an important factor for South Korean consumers to choose Samsung over Apple, but the report points out that this factor is now less prominent.

One of the factors contributing to the increase in iPhone sales in South Korea this year is that operators are offering more discounts to make expensive equipment more affordable, and Apple Pay is also seen as a factor in boosting sales.

In addition, one reason why native Koreans chose Samsung phones in the past is no longer applicable. Samsung's mobile app has always included a call recording feature, which is a very popular feature that iPhone does not provide. However, SK Telecom, the country's operator, last month offered call recording through its iPhone app.

The surge in demand for the iPhone has also prompted some to wonder whether Apple will raise South Korea's launch priority from the third tier to the second tier. The iPhone 15 series went on sale in the United States and more than 40 other countries on September 22, second tier countries on September 29 and South Korea on October 13, making it a third tier country.

However, CTOnews.com notes that Japan does not seem to be very interested in the latest iPhone series. Japanese consumers tend to opt for smaller phones, and this year's new phones seem to have boosted sales of older mini models.

Sales of the iPhone 12 and 13 Mini in Japan more than doubled in the first week of the new iPhone 15, the Nikkei reported. Because Apple has stopped selling Mini models on its official website, the report says Japanese consumers are turning to online second-hand stores to buy these phones.

Apple removed the iPhone 13 mini from its website at the same time as the iPhone 15 was released.
