CTOnews.com November 22 news, China's commercial space has ushered in rapid development since this year, in 2023 has been carried out 53 orbital space launch missions, commercial launch vehicles have been carried out 13 times, accounting for about 25%, compared with last year's 17% has been significantly improved.

The first launch vehicle of Oriental Space, Gravity-1, is scheduled to be launched from Haiyang Oriental Space Port in Shandong Province in December 2023 to carry out the first launch of the rocket.

"Gravity-1" is an innovative model in the field of launch vehicles in the world. It is the world's first medium-sized all-solid strap-on launch vehicle. It will become the solid-state launch vehicle with the largest take-off magnitude and the strongest capacity in use in the world. Officials have now announced the appearance of the "Gravity I" remote rocket.

CTOnews.com inquired about information and learned that "Gravity No.1"(YL-1) is a medium-sized all-solid strap-on launch vehicle independently developed by Dongfang Space (Shandong) Science and Technology Co., Ltd., which will become the commercial launch vehicle with the strongest capacity in low-Earth orbit in China.

It adopts a three-stage and half-configuration, consisting of four boosters bundled around the core stage 1, core stage 2, core stage 3 and core stage 1, all of which use solid propellants.

"Gravity No.1" is aimed at the large-scale networking requirements of small and medium-sized satellites in low orbit and supports the launch requirements of multi-satellite networking with one arrow. For constellation satellites with a single satellite of 200 kg, the arrow can support the launch of 18 - 24 satellites with one arrow and multiple satellites. During the Yao-1 mission, the rocket will be equipped with a 4.2-meter-diameter fairing, the largest on a Chinese commercial rocket, waiting for the solid giant rocket to rise from the east.

The diameter of the first stage of the rocket core is 2.65 meters, equipped with one SR-2500 solid rocket engine, with thrust of 255 tons and maximum nozzle diameter of 2.4 meters, leading the comprehensive performance in China; the diameter of the booster is 2.65 meters, the height is more than 10 meters, and each rocket is equipped with one solid engine, with thrust of more than 150 tons; the diameter of the second stage of the core is 2.65 meters; The three-stage core has a diameter of 1.4 meters and is equipped with one solid main engine. The final attitude control power system is equipped with four 50 N and 12 700 N solid engines, which are used for pitch, yaw, roll and other attitude control and terminal speed correction in some flight stages of the rocket, and for the final stage deorbit reentry.

Gravity-1 rocket is 31.4 meters long, with a takeoff mass of 405 tons and a takeoff thrust of more than 600 tons (The core level 1 does not ignite at takeoff). The thrust-to-weight ratio exceeds 1.48. The fairing with a diameter of 3.35 meters, 3.8 meters and 4.2 meters can be selected. The fairing with a diameter of 4.2 meters has a load space of 100 cubic meters. Its low-earth orbit (LEO) capacity is 6.5 tons, and the carrier factor is about 1.60%. The 500-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit (SSO) capacity is 4.2 tons, and the carrier factor is about 1.04%. 700 km SSO capacity 3.7 tons, carrying factor of about 0.91%.

In contrast, the world's most powerful solid rocket is currently ESA Vega-C, with a takeoff mass of 210 tons, a takeoff thrust of about 459 tons, a 700 km polar orbit (PO) capacity of 2.3 tons (700 km SSO capacity is close to 2.3 tons) and a launch factor of 1.10%.

In comparison, the take-off mass of Gravity I is 190 tons higher and the 700-kilometer SSO capacity is nearly 1.4 tons higher.
