CTOnews.com, Nov. 22, Meta Quest 3 was released on September 28 this year, and the price of 128GB starts at $499 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3563 yuan), while the analysis company Wellsenn XR recently announced that the material cost of the head display is $430 (currently about 3070 yuan).

Although it sounds like Meta made about $70 per 128GB Meta Quest 3 (currently about 500 yuan), this is only the cost of materials, not counting the research and development costs and software support costs of Quest 3, so the analyst firm believes that, in fact, the price of 128GB head display is actually lower than the cost, while Meta suffers a net loss on each sale.

In terms of specific material costs, the total cost of Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Gen 2 chip and cooling unit to maintain head performance is $151( currently about RMB 1078), display cost is $80 (currently about RMB 571), camera and sensor cost is $41 (currently about RMB293) The other $105 (currently about 750 yuan) comes from handles, batteries, speakers, microphones, equipment housings, boxes and freight.

Meanwhile, Wellsenn XR points out that Apple's Vision Pro head costs about $1700 (currently about 12138 yuan), but the head display sells for $3499 (currently about 24983 yuan), so Apple has made a lot of money on its first XR head display.
