CTOnews.com reported on the 17th of this month that in order to meet the relevant provisions of the Digital Market Law, Microsoft has adjusted its Win11 system for users in the European Economic area (EEA). Users can uninstall most pre-installed applications, such as Edge and Bing, and disable recommendation and advertising content.

However, Microsoft has included the relevant parameters by default in its recent update to Release Preview channel users, but it is not enabled by default.

Win11 users need to install KB5032288, while Win10 users need to install KB5032278, and cautious users can wait until Microsoft releases optional updates at the end of this month or cumulative updates in December.

However, this modification does not require a change to the registry, just open the C:\ Windows\ System32 folder and modify the code in the IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json file.

This is a JSON file that users can open and edit using any plain text editor. Each entry contains a defaultState, which can be enabled or disabled, as well as regions where the feature is enabled or disabled.
